Rhesus funded by Slice The Pie!

Wow!
What a morning! I got woken up at 4am by my drummer calling me ranting that we’d made it. I (of course) ignored him, put the phone down and went back to sleep.

Woke up this morning and it all became clear.

We’re the next financed artist on Slicethepie, and honestly this could be huge. We have such an amazing album in us it’s unreal – and now we have the platform (and £15,000) to create it. The difficulty will be the promotion and getting heard – but (without blowing my own trumpet) we believe we have THE most radio friendly sound and songs around, and honestly – with the rhesus army behind us, we can do anything!

It took us 126 days to raise £15,000, a little over 4 months, and the support we’ve had has truly been amazing, here’s the graph of our success:
(Taken from the 22nd of Nov when we first broke into the top 5.)

I really don’t know what else to say, other than thank everyone who’s supported us – it’s amazing what you can do with an army and a couple of ninjas.

The real hard work starts here. And don’t we know it!

New Rhesus Branding!

Morning all.

After a flurry of rhesus based activity, I’m proud to announce our new logo has arrived.

It’s completely custom made, with a hand made font and style.

The theory behind it is simple, I wanted the good bits from the 2012 olympics logo, and none of the rubbish.

The good in that logo:
1) INSTANTLY recognisable.
2) Can be used with any brand/promotion easily due to the fact it can be in any colour (not many logos allow that).

So with that in mind, and with a third condition to meet (3) I wanted it to look great stand alone, but be able to fade away into nothing if needed [it doesn't always have to steal the show!] Here are the results of my labour :D

The above shows the way that it’s recognisable and can be used in any colour/situation.

This shows condition 3, if the logo is on it’s own it can be more complex, and if it’s surrounded in a busy scene, it can be plain.

and finally, a handful of random examples of it in action:

Please let me know what you think, good, bad, indifferent.

And if you have a favourite colour too :P

Next stop, a new website!!!

Hey gang!
The first review for our new EP “Bored Games” has come out! I’ll attach it below:

Rhesus – Bored Games

Featuring the kind of impassioned vocals and melodic, polished guitar work
that have been known melt hearts and pack venues in the right hands, ‘Bored Games,’ the latest EP from Black Country four-piece Rhesus, certainly threatens to add yet another name to the ever expanding ‘most likely to succeed’ category in the minds of those monitoring the legion of young bands populating the UK music scene. Unlike some of those that share the tag however, if this band are among the chosen few who make their mark and break through to the big time, then, on the evidence of ‘Basement,’ ‘Hey,’ et al, they’re going to do it with refreshing emotional candour, lack of pretention, and through the efforts of a dedicated grassroots following that the band have already begun to gather; while this isn’t revolutionary in style or tone, it is enjoyable, well assembled and honest, three qualities that are deceptively simple to forgo in the realms of mainstream baiting rock. Fans of Foo Fighters, Telegraphs (If you haven’t heard them, do) and recent Green Day, along with anyone willing to cast their initial cynicism aside to embrace the odd pop hook or too, will likely find something that’s to their taste here… It’s still early days for Rhesus, so there’s all the more reason to lend them some support.

Great review eh?

The EP is ready to be bought on amazon (Rhesus – Bored Games) – but you’ll have to wait until the 20th November.

Expect a shed load of updates shortly, lots happening in the camp atm!

Firstly, apologies for not blogging for a while – with the Bored Games launch rapidly approaching we’ve been busy getting the CDs made, getting T-Shirts made, booking gigs, and generally, working hard.

This was our first gig since coming out of the studio, and in a month packed full of dates, it was important we got off to a good start.

The Taphouse in Kidderminster is a well known gigging venue in the area, it’s got a decent size stage for what is predominantly a pub, and has it’s own quite regular crowd.

We got there first, set up and had our sound check. The sound engineer couldn’t quite fathom our inear monitors, but in his defence, he was using a loaned PA.

Our set was as follows:

  • Punk
  • So Alone
  • Big Me
  • Liar
  • Hey
  • The Chase
  • Basement
  • Intro
  • Terror
  • threefour
  • Narcolespy Baby
  • Young Love

After the gig, we got a lot of good feedback from the crowd, and drank ourselves happy on the owners generosity! Good times!

I’ll be posting some live video from the gig on the Rhesus Youtube site asap, so keep an eye out for it!

New EP Cover

We’ve finally finished the front cover to the next rhesus EP (bored games). It’s taken a lot of planning and hard work, so firstly I’d like to thank our cast and photographer.

Anyway, after 10 hours plus of photoshop work, the masterpiece is created: and without further ado – voila!

I will be creating wallpapers of this, and the last EP cover soon, so stay tuned :D

Photoshoot update

Hey gang!
I’ll follow this post up shortly with a bigger, more detailed one, but for now, this one will explain what we’ve been up to.

Since coming out of the studio, we’ve been busy preparing our next ep launch and making sure it generally goes off with a bang!

Plans include a huge launch party at Glass in Foster Street Stourbridge with the physical CD launch, a featured slot on Balcony TV and (hopefully) a music video for the song “liar”.

Last night we had the photoshoot for the CD artwork. And it was an absolute hoot! One of the Models was AWOL and we had to improvise (thanks to our stand in, Andy) but overall the shoot went to plan.

Anyhow, I think I saw a video camera, and if that’s the case, I’ll upload a “making of” video soon.

The hard work begins now (hours and hours of me photoshopping!)

Gigs, gigs, gigs

Since leaving the studio we have been quite busy booking gigs, booking the launch party for the new EP and contacting management companies etc. We also now have the whole cast for the cover of the album as well as the props to use and will be completing the photo shoot very soon indeed!

Onto the gigs… and believe me, we have quite a few coming up.

2nd October – We’re playing at Madhouse in Birmingham – going to be small scaled gig, being put on for Lindsays mum who is coming over from America, but feel free to come along too!

1st November – This gig will be on the sunday afternoon and will be at The Robin 2 in Bilston as part of an open mic night.

12th November – This isn’t a gig as such but will be us playing in London for Balcony TV where we play a little accoustic set (not much fun for me) and people get to watch us online.

20th November – The big one!! This is the date of our Launch party so make sure you put this in your diary! It will be at The Glass in Stourbridge and as far as i know it will be £3 a ticket or £5 for a ticket and a CD. If you don’t come to the other gigs, this is a must!

21st November – This will see us yet again heading down to London to play at the Hope and Anchor. Those who came last time will know what a wicked little venue it is. However, this time i don’t believe we will be putting on a coach for the fans as we’re not headlining, so if any one wants to come, get in touch and i’m sure we can sort something out.

For now that’s it but i’m sure there will be plenty more coming soon, so keep checking back and we’ll see you at one of the gigs…

Mixdown

Hi all Ben here.

As you all should know by now, we have been back in the studio since last Friday recording the latest EP.

Well what can i say, its been amazing so far, recording all the parts has been fun and its exciting to hear everything finally coming together. Neil (our producer) has been great and has even been adding some of his own suggestions.

Were at the Mixing stage now and we cannot wait to hear the final result.

We will be adding some more video’s to the Rhesus YouTube Channel and more pictures to follow.

Take care.
